For Students

Thank you for your interest in exploring an educational experience with New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Below is a list of the documentation that is required of all students wanting to have an educational experience with New Hanover Regional Medical Center and following that is information on the Student Online Orientation

NHRMC Employee Health Requirements:

  • 2 Measles vaccinations or positive antibody titer
  • History of Chicken Pox or 2 Varicella immunizations
  • Mumps vaccinations or positive antibody titer
  • Rubella vaccination or positive antibody titer
  • TB skin test (PPD within the past year) or chest x-ray
  • Tetanus vaccination within the last 10 years
  • 3 Hepatitis B vaccinations or a signed declination statement
  • 9 Panel Urine Drug Screen within the practicum semester
  • Criminal Background check to include:
    • Criminal Conviction Report - State & Federal - min. 7 years prior
    • Social Security Match - Maiden Name Search
  • Liability Insurance
  • CPR Certification (clinical students)

These results will need to be completed prior to the start of the student's education with your current university/college, if not you the student may contact our Employee Health Services and make an appointment-Employee Health Services 910-343-7445, for your 9-Panel Drug Screening.

Employee Health hours of operation: 7:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

The Criminal Background Check can be obtained by going to your local Clerk of Courts for a fee.

These documents must be provided to the manager/designee of the unit the student will be on prior to the student's educational experience before any student will be allowed to start their educational experience at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Online Orientation for Students.

Once you have completed reviewing the CBL (computer based learnining) module you must complete the test and pass with a minimum of 88% (There are 18 questions).

Upon passing the test you will be able to print a certificate of completion.

  • Nursing students should submit their certificate of completion to their instructor.
    (Includes RNs, NAs, LPNs)
  • Schools should maintain this as part of the students file.
  • Allied Health and Support Services students should submit this to their preceptor/director's designee at NHRMC.
  • This should be kept in the student's department file.
